Buteyn-Peterson(BP) reached out to the Plymouth High School teacher Beau Biller this fall in an effort to introduce students to sitework being performed at the local Wade House horse arena. BP is looking to develop a pre-apprenticeship program to give students an early look at a career as a union operator or laborer. BP crews worked closely with the students to install 1,052 feet of fence at the Wade House site in the fall of 2022.
As a show of appreciation, BP representatives visited the students and provided a pizza lunch for the hard-working Plymouth students. BP General Manager Ryan Lutzke and Project Engineer Bob Hackel, joined with local 139 Operating Engineers representatives in discussing the career opportunities available as a union employee. With the development of the pre-apprenticeship program, students can get a glimpse in to the skills needed and potentially have a job upon graduation.
